[Chateau Angelus 2004]
Robert Parker rating: 95/100
Château Angelus is a renowned winery located in the Saint-Émilion region in the northeast of Bordeaux. The property is located in a coveted spot to the west of the town of Saint-Émilion, on a gentle south-facing slope of the Saint-Émilion plateau. It produces a luxurious, long-lived Merlot-Cabernet Franc wine that is often highly rated by critics. The grand wine is aged in new oak barrels for about 18 months before bottling. Then, it will be stored in the bottle for at least five years before being released, but due to the concentration, weight, and structure of Angélus, which usually allow the wine to evolve over decades, it can be aged for a longer period.
"Chateau Angelus 2004 presents a deep blue/purple hue accompanied by classic aromas of smoky blueberries and blackberries, with incense and floral notes in the background." The beautiful texture, richness, opulence, and purity are the hallmarks of this stunningly deep, intense effort.
Grape variety:
60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc
