[Silver Heights Family Red 2020 (銀色高地和合紅葡萄酒)]

Silver Heights Vineyard was founded by Gao Lin and his daughter Gao Yuan in 2007, and is currently managed by Gao Yuan.Currently, Gao Yuan serves as both the owner and winemaker of the winery. She studied winemaking in Bordeaux, France, obtained the French National Oenologist Diploma, and interned for a period at the renowned 1855 Third Growth estate, Chateau Calon Segur.

The vineyard of the winery is located on the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains, at an altitude of 1,200 meters, in the grape-growing golden zone at 38° north latitude.The climate in this region is exceptionally dry, with ample sunlight and rare rainfall. The temperature difference between day and night can reach up to 15 ºC, which is beneficial for the accumulation of sugars and phenolic compounds in the grape berries, allowing the grapes to maintain a relatively high acidity even when fully ripe.The main soil types in the vineyard are clayey, sandy, and gravelly soils, with low organic matter content, making them relatively barren.Due to the cold winter, in order to prevent the grapevines from dying, the winery will use the earthing method, laying the grapevines flat on the ground and burying them 30 centimeters underground to prevent the grapevines and root system from freezing.When spring arrives, the soil mounds are removed, allowing the vines to return to their original state.The winery adheres to the concept of organic farming, strictly controlling the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides during the grape cultivation process, and implementing meticulous manual management for each grapevine.The main varieties planted in the vineyard are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Riesling.

Family Red has always been Silver Heights's winemakers’ ‘favo’. It takes patience to appreciate its charms, just like the process of decanting can completely dic its charms. Elegant and complex, winemakers often call this the ballerina of our range.

Grape varieties:

75% Cabernet Sauvignon & 25% Merlot

Winemaking process:

• Grapes are 100% hand picked and selected.
• Cold maceration and temperature controlled fermentation.
• Aged in neutral French oak for 12 months.
• Less racking, Filtered by traditional Bordeaux method preserve complexity.

Tasting notes:

It exudes a rich aroma of dark fruits, such as black cherries, blackberries, and dried figs, accompanied by spicy herbal and smoky notes. Upon tasting, its tannins are firm and powerful, possessing a rugged nature akin to rocks, while its elevated acidity ensures a long, articulate, and savory aftertaste reminiscent of aged rock tea. This vintage possesses tremendous potential for aging.

Suggested food pairings:

Can be enjoyed alone or paired with grilled beef steaks, roasted goose, double cooked pork slices; roasted pigeon; roasted duck; vegetarian couscous; parmigiana di melanzane, etc.
