[Chateau Pavie 2009]
Robert Parker rating: 100/100
When it comes to famous Bordeaux wines, people often say, "Lafite is on the left bank, and Pavie is on the right bank."Chateau Pavie is located in the Saint Emilion region on the right bank of Bordeaux, France, and has a very long history.Chateau Pavie is located in the southeastern part of Saint Emilion on the right bank of Bordeaux. The soil here consists of the most common limestone and brown clay found on the right bank of Bordeaux. The average age of the vines is 40 years, and the grapes are all hand-picked and then fermented in large stainless steel barrels.Generally speaking, traditional French wines are known for their smooth, balanced, and elegant taste; New World wines, on the other hand, are full of personality, power, and wildness. However, Chateau Pavie is an exception.Although Chateau Pavie originates from France, it inherently possesses the elegance and balance of French red wine, while simultaneously being full of the power and personality of New World red wine.
"This is another outstanding achievement by Gerard Perse, everything is done with extraordinary gentleness and precision."It is a powerful, rich, and very intense black/purple wine. She will require quite a bit of patience, just like the 2000 and 2005 vintages of the same wine. She displays huge blackcurrants and boysenberries, with a backdrop of some cherries, spice box, and crushed stone.Very intense and with a lot of minerality and power, the wine has a noticeable stickiness, but the vintage characteristics seem to give it freshness and vitality. The patience required is at least 10 years, as this is another 40-year lifespan red wine from Gerard Perse. Can be consumed between 2020-2060."
