Since the early 18th century, Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron has been deeply influenced by women.Until the eve of the French Revolution, the management and major decisions of the estate were made by the baronesses, including Therese de Rauzan, Germaine de Lajus, and Marie Branda de Terrefort. Baron Joseph de Pichon Longueville took over the ownership of Château Pichon Longueville at the age of 19, succeeding his mother Marie de Terrefort.
