Chateau Pichon-Longueville Baron is a winery located in the Pauillac region of Bordeaux, commonly referred to as "Baron" or Pichon Baron. Along with its sister estate, Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande ("Comtesse" or Pichon Comtesse), it is one of the only two wineries in the Pauillac region rated as Second Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification.The Chateau Pichon Baron vineyard is located at the southern end of Pauillac, bordering Saint-Julien, and directly opposite Chateau Latour.The Chateau Pichon-Longueville estate existed until 1850, after which it was divided into two parts. Baron Raoul Pichon de Longueville inherited one part, while the remaining part was passed on to his three sisters, becoming Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande.The magnificent castle was managed by the baron starting in 1851.Since 1987, Pichon Baron has been owned by the French insurance company AXA.
