[Chateau Pichon Baron 2001]
Robert Parker rating: 93/100
Chateau Pichon-Longueville Baron (Pichon Baron) is located in the famous wine-producing village of Pauillac in Bordeaux. It was classified as a second growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification and is renowned as a "legendary" estate within the entire Bordeaux region. The estate changed hands again and was acquired by the French insurance giant AXA Millesimes in 1987. They vigorously promoted the "quality first" philosophy and led the estate team in relentless efforts, establishing the high reputation of Baron Pichon-Longueville.
"This deep ruby/purple Pessac-Léognan is a very successful attempt from this vintage in the Médoc, showcasing aromas of blackcurrant liqueur, licorice, and incense."The body is medium to full, with good structure, mature tannins, and a long finish. It can be enjoyed now and will be even better in 2-3 years; it will last for 12-15 years.I have had this wine from the bottle three times, and it is clearly better than the barrel sample." (2004)
Grape varieties:
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc
