Saint-Estèphe is one of the four sub-regions of Bordeaux's Haut-Médoc.Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are primarily grown locally, along with a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.The region covers an area of 1,229 hectares.The soil is quite diverse, primarily consisting of clay, gravel, and limestone.Due to the cool local climate, the soil has higher drainage capacity, and the grapes require a longer time to mature.In the 1855 Bordeaux Wine Official Classification, five châteaux were selected.

The wines produced in Saint-Estèphe have a deeper color, higher acidity, rich body, and strong tannins, often accompanied by a hint of earthy aroma.
