[Chateau Monbousquet 2019]
James Suckling rating: 93/100
The history of Chateau Monbousquet dates back to 1540. In modern times, the estate was purchased in 1993 by Gerard Perse, who owns several renowned estates such as Chateau Pavie and Chateau Pavie-Decesse.Out of his love for red wine, Gerard Perse bought up many famous Bordeaux estates in one go, even spending heavily to reform the estates. He even invited winemaking master Michel Rolland to the estate as a winemaking consultant, significantly improving the quality and winemaking techniques of Chateau Monbousquet, allowing it to be classified as one of the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classees in 2006.
In 2019, Monbousquet exudes aromas of ripe cherries, fig jam, sweet earthiness, cloves, and other warm spices. It is a medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated wine, with a broad and generous palate, strong fruit flavors, and a foundation of abundant aromas.Powdery, heavily extracted tannins.
Grape varieties:
