[Les Pensees de la Tour Carnet 2014]
James Suckling's rating: 91/100
Chateau La Tour Carnet was ranked as a fourth growth in the 1855 Médoc classification. After the estate was acquired by Bernard Magrez in 2000, its quality significantly improved, with Robert Parker calling it the most cost-effective of all the classified estates.Using drones (one of the latest technologies acquired by Bernard Magrez) to analyze vineyard plots from the air has deepened the understanding of each plot. For example, the terroir of Labarde is more suitable for Merlot, while the slopes are better for Cabernet.Chateau La Tour Carnet has an enormous 190-hectare vineyard, of which only 2.46 hectares are used to produce La Tour Carnet Blanc, resulting in a very limited yield.
This wine has a deep ruby red color with garnet hues. The first nose is fruity, with notes of raspberry and blackberry. This wine, as it swirls, releases a delicate aroma of ripe fruits, with a hint of jam and a touch of vanilla. The entry is smooth, with a richer mid-palate.The tannins are delicate, with a hint of acidity, giving the wine a fresh sensation. The finish is long and very elegant."- James Suckings
