[Chateau L'Enclos 2015]
RP91
The winery, which is only about 9 hectares, has a history dating back to the 19th century and was managed by the Larroucaud family until 2006 when it was sold to the American winemaking family, the Adams. They also own the winery Adamvs in Napa. Some of the vines at Chateau L’Enclos are over 50 years old, and the best vineyard plots are actually not far from Chateau Trotanoy and Clinet. The winery produces only 3,000 cases each year. Notably, to achieve better quality, the winery has implemented micro vinification, purchasing a large number of 500L Burgundy barrels to micro-vinify 25% of the harvest. This method has already been adopted by the Spanish estate Torres. Micro vinification involves breaking down the entire winemaking process into multiple smaller batches, allowing for predictions, experiments, and analyses on different batches. This means using modern technology to tightly monitor the entire winemaking process to achieve the best results.
The sweet, fresh, ripe, and elegant aromas and flavors of plums, licorice, cherries, and cocoa are overwhelming. The wine has a medium body, is smooth and very gentle, with a finish that carries the taste of juicy, sweet plums. Store it in the cellar for another 2-3 years. This is clearly the best vintage of L'Enclos I have tasted so far.
