Domaine Prieure Roch Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Clos des Corvees "Monopole" 2020
The story of Domaine Prieuré Roch is a story about love. It began in 1987, when the young Henri-Frédéric Roch first visited "Clos Goillotte,"
Grape variety:
In 1988, the opportunity to purchase this land arose, and Domaine Prieuré Roch was born. The inspiration for this name came from another producer in Bordeaux, meaning "Priory Roch."
Over time, Rock expanded his vineyard to 20 hectares, distributed between the Night Hill and Bon Hill.
Today, the estate produces wines from Vosne-Romanée, Clos de Vougeot, Chambertin's "Clos de Bèze," the 5.2-hectare monopole "Le Clos de Corvées" located in Nuits-St-Georges, and the newly added rare monopole "Le Clos" des Varoilles in Gevrey Chambertin.
From the beginning, Roich chose the ancestral principles of minimal intervention and terroir priority, beliefs that were adopted by the estate manager Yannick Champ, whom Roich hired in 2005.
Grown using organic and biodynamic methods, the vines are fed with natural compost and hand-weeded; each parcel has its unique treatment.
Strictly adhere to the minimum yield, grapes are hand-picked, usually in multiple rounds, and only when the stems are ripe. For certain special wines, grapes are harvested when they are smaller in size but fully ripe (known as "millerandés" grapes), resulting in a more intense flavor.
The winery uses 100% natural yeast for all its special wines. During the fermentation process, the team manually reassembles and pigeages twice a day.
The village wines are then aged in new oak barrels for 18 months; the first growth and grand cru wines are racked after 20-22 months and continue to age for up to 24 months. All wines are bottled without fining or filtration, using only a minimal amount of sulfur.
Domaine Prieuré Roch's wines are known for their rich aromas and complexity, and have garnered a fervent following due to their exceptional quality and honest expression of Burgundy terroir.
The rich aroma of fresh, crisp red fruits. The palate combines fruity and floral notes, with hints of peony. The finish carries a subtle toasty note.
