Robert Parker rating: 92/100
Chateau Cheval Blanc is one of the four Premier Grand Cru Classé A wineries in the Bordeaux Saint-Emilion region. The soil of Chateau Cheval Blanc is quite diverse, with gravel, clay, and sandy areas. All the soil is underlain by hard sedimentary rock. After fermenting and soaking in large stainless steel barrels for 4 weeks, the wine is aged in new oak barrels for 18 months. It is the most famous wine in the world made from Cabernet Franc. The release of Cheval Blanc requires a minimum of 10 years of bottle aging, and wines from the best harvests can even be stored for over 50 years.
"Chateau Cheval Blanc 1995 contains a higher proportion of Merlot in the final blend than usual."It seems to be an excellent Chateau Cheval Blanc, with enchanting notes of smoke, blackcurrant, coffee, and an exotic bouquet. Its complex, rich, medium to full-bodied flavors are abundant and pure, with surprisingly firm tannins on the finish.
Grape variety:
Under the law of Hong Kong, intoxicating liquor must not be sold or supplied to a minor in the course of business.
