[Cheval Blanc 2004]
Robert Parker rating: 95/100
Chateau Cheval Blanc is one of the four Premier Grand Cru Classé A wineries in the Bordeaux Saint-Emilion region. The soil of Chateau Cheval Blanc is quite diverse, with gravel, clay, and sandy areas. All the soil is underlain by hard sedimentary rock. After fermenting and soaking in large stainless steel barrels for 4 weeks, the wine is aged in new oak barrels for 18 months. It is one of the most famous wines in the world made from Cabernet Franc. The release of Cheval Blanc requires a minimum of 10 years of bottle aging, and wines from the best harvests can even be stored for over 50 years.
"Chateau Cheval Blanc 2004 might be the best Cheval Blanc since 2000, presenting a deep ruby/purple color accompanied by classic aromas of mint, red and black currants, smoke, orange, and red tea." She is sweet and pure; the body is medium, exceptionally elegant.Although it doesn't have the same sensational style as the 2000 and 1998 vintages, it is a precise, fragrant, and promising top wine, and one of the best wines of that year. Can be enjoyed from 2009 to 2022."
Grape variety:
