[Domaine Boigey Freres Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2021]
As the name suggests, Domaine Boigey Frères is run by the two brothers, Guillaume and Olivier, who come from one of the oldest winemaking families in Volnay. The current estate was established in 2018, consisting of 3.15 hectares of vines, which have been gradually reclaimed as the family's divided planting leases have expired. Today, it is distributed across six appellations: two villages, three premier crus, and one grand cru, Echézeaux, which includes the famous Vosne-Romanée "Aux Jachées," grown behind the Bizot estate. The cultivation of the vines is done with great respect for nature and is adapted to the weather and soil conditions. The grapes are hand-picked, macerated for 7 to 9 days, destemmed, then fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged in barrels (30-50% new wood) for 12-16 months, finally filtered and polished before bottling. Guillaume and Olivier's goal is to produce wines with intense fruit aromas, refined and balanced textures.
The wine captures the authenticity of its terroir, conveying purity, refinement, and elegance. Its unique regional flavors are marked by lively fruitiness, bright acidity, and delicate tannins. The winemaking style of this wine is easily approachable when young and can age gracefully for many years.
