【Chateau Angelus 2000】
Robert Parker Rating: 99/100
Château Angélus is a renowned winery located in the Saint-Émilion region of Bordeaux, northeast of the city. The estate sits in a desirable location on a gentle south-facing slope of the Saint-Émilion plateau, west of the town of Saint-Émilion. It produces a luxurious and age-worthy Merlot-Cabernet Franc wine that is frequently highly praised by critics. The grand wine is aged in new oak barrels for about 18 months before bottling. It is then kept in the bottle for at least five years before release; however, due to the concentration, weight, and structure of Angélus, the wine often allows for decades of evolution, enabling even longer aging.
“Medium garnet-brick in color, the 2000 Angelus comes galloping out of the glass with a powerful nose of fragrant earth, damp soil, iron ore and cigar box over a core of prunes, blackberry jam and dried mulberries. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly styled with great freshness and loads of earth and mineral-inspired layers, framed by grainy tannins, finishing with a lingering menthol lift.” – Robert Parker
