[Y D'Yquem 2018]
Chateau D’Yquem is located in the Sauternes region of Bordeaux, and its sweet wine can be said to be the most famous sweet wine in the world. The soil here is very suitable for producing sweet wine—warm, dry pebbles and coarse gravel topsoil lie on clay subsoil.Known for its complex, concentrated, and quite sweet palate. The wine's crisp acidity balances its sweetness, offering great aging potential; individual vintages of Y D'Yquem can even be aged for a century or longer. As time passes, the aroma and flavor of Y D'Yquem become more complex and enchanting, and the color of the wine gradually transitions from bright straw yellow to golden brown, amber, and caramel. From 1785 to 1999, the estate was owned by the Lur-Saluces family, at which point it was sold to LVMH.
"Y D'Yquem 2018 has a faint aroma of grass clippings and green apple on the nose, with a fresh, light, and crisp entry, featuring flavors of pineapple and dried apricot, and a finish with a hint of roasted walnut." This will actually improve with aeration, gaining some delightful toffee and subtle white chocolate flavors.
Grape varieties:
75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon
