Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte was reorganized by French supermarket tycoon Daniel Cathiard after he purchased the estate in 1990, bringing it back to the top tier of Pessac Leognan.Due to the unique terroir conditions of this area being suitable for growing both red and white grapes, it has become one of the few regions in Bordeaux where both red and white wines are excellent.Robert Parker even awarded the red and white wines 100 points in 2009 and 2010, making it a force to be reckoned with!

"The grand Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte Rouge 2009 is a tremendous success. It presents a dense deep purple color, accompanied by rich aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, licorice, and subtle oak; the body is full, with smooth tannins, and the acidity, wood, and alcohol are perfectly integrated. The palate is richly layered, with a finish that can last around 45 seconds. This outstanding red wine should be drinkable within 15-20 years."
