[Chateau Rauzan Gassies 2016]
James Suckling rating: 95/100
Chateau Rauzan Gassies is located in the Margaux region on the left bank of Bordeaux, and like Chateau Rauzan Segla, it also comes from the prominent and wealthy Rauzan family of the 17th century.Even before 1855, the estate's reputation was closely following that of Chateau Margaux. After the 1855 classification system was established, Chateau Rauzan Gassies officially became a Second Growth estate.By 1946, Paul Quie bought Chateau Rauzan Gassies, and the Quie family has been managing Chateau Rauzan Gassies ever since.
"Chateau Rauzan Gassies 2016 has a relatively light, slightly herbal aroma. Although it is not yet mature, it does not emit the intense aromas typical of other Margaux wines. The body is medium, with slightly chewy tannins, exhibiting the typical characteristics of damp underbrush and a faint herbal style. The finish is balanced, lacking the intensity of other fruits."
Grape varieties:
78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot
