Chateau de Pez was built in the 15th century and is the oldest winery in Saint Estèphe.The Pontac family also created the Haut-Brion wine and handed over its vineyard to Pez. After the French Revolution, the estate was sold as national property and owned by a series of families, before being acquired by Champagne Louis Roederer in 1995.
Spices and dark berries with some nutmeg and cedar. Medium to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a delicate, beautiful finish. So refined. Tight balance. Give it three to four years to open up. Try after 2023.
