In the 1955 Saint-Emilion classification, it was rated as the top Premier Grand Cru Classé A estate, and it has maintained this highest ranking in subsequent reclassifications.The soil of Chateau Cheval Blanc is quite diverse, consisting of gravel, clay, and sand.All the soil is underlain by hard sedimentary rock.The requirement for Cheval Blanc to be released is at least 10 years of bottle aging, and wines from the best harvests can even be stored for over 50 years.
