[Chateau Prieure Lichine 2018]
Robert Parker rating: 91/100
James Suckling rating: 94/100
Château Prieuré-Lichine is an estate in the Margaux region of Bordeaux, classified as a fourth growth in the official Bordeaux classification of 1855.It is considered one of the most consistent producers in Margaux, renowned for its elegance and softness, partly due to the relatively high proportion of Merlot in the blend. Its vineyard was the property of a monastery before the French Revolution. At that time, the red wine produced by Chateau Prieure-Lichine was called La Prieure, which means "monastery" in French.
The 2018 deep pomegranate purple Prieure-Lichine slides out of the glass, with a luxurious aroma of raspberry jam, chocolate cherry, and warm blackcurrant, accompanied by hints of candied violet, licorice, camphor, and wilted rose. The body is full, and the fruit flavors are rich. The taste is wonderful, full of floral aromas, with mature tannins, a strong grainy texture, a long finish, and a hint of minerality.Very beautiful."
Grape varieties: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot
