[Chateau Pape Clement Rouge 2014]
Robert Parker rating: 94/100
Adjacent to Chateau Haut Brion, Chateau Pape Clement is located in the outskirts of Bordeaux's Pessac Leognan and is one of the oldest prestigious estates in Bordeaux. The estate's name comes from Pope Clement V.Clement had great vision in winemaking, and the wines he guided in production had outstanding quality. These high-quality wines were exclusively for use in the papal residence, hence they were called papal wines. It is now owned by the Magrez family.Chateau Pape Clement primarily focuses on producing red wine, but it also produces white wine.
"Chateau Pape Clement Rouge 2014 has a rather strong aroma, with luxurious scents of red cherries, cherry liqueur, iodine, and tablet-like notes, while the oak flavors may need a few more years to fully integrate."The body is medium, the tannins are smooth, the acidity is delicate, quite refined and concentrated, with a finish that has noticeable tension, filled with juicy, tobacco-infused blackberry fruit flavors. This is a luxurious and refined Chateau Pape Clement Rouge, and among all the 2014 Pessac Leognan wines I have tasted, it shows the most significant substance or material, second only to Chateau Haut Brion. This is undoubtedly a wine destined for a long future.
Grape varieties:
