[Chateau Pontet Canet 2005]
Robert Parker rating: 97/100 (2015)
The rising star of Bordeaux's Left Bank, Chateau Pontet Canet, is located in the heart of Pauillac, Bordeaux. To the north, it is adjacent to one of the five major estates, Chateau Mouton Rothschild, and was ranked as a fifth-growth estate in the 1855 classification.
"In terms of its evolution, it might be the youngest wine among all the 2005 Medoc reds. After 10 years of aging, the deep purple Chateau Pontet Canet 2005 tastes more like a 2-year-old wine."A plethora of pure blueberries, blackberries, and blackcurrants accompanied by a hint of licorice and oak; the body is full, mature, extremely fresh, and vibrant. This is a superb attempt. It can be cellared for another 5-10 years, and then consumed over the next 30-40 years.Drinking period: 2020-2065."
Grape variety:
75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot
