Pavillon Rouge is the highly respected second wine of Château Margaux. The 1997 is a fully mature, delicate artifact from a charming, early-drinking Bordeaux year. It offers a profoundly moving, purely tertiary tasting experience, perfectly preserved over the decades. The bouquet reveals dried red fruits, sweet kirsch, worn leather, caramel, cedar, crushed violets, and damp forest floor. Light to medium-bodied, it is exceptionally soft and seamless on the palate, with fully resolved tannins and mouthwatering acidity. A wonderfully charming and accessible old Margaux.
