Bodega Catena Zapata, located in Argentina's Mendoza region, is the only South American winery featured in Robert Parker's "The World's Greatest Wine Estates" (Wald's Greatest Wine Estates). Its original owner, Nicolás Catena Zapata, was named Decanter magazine's Man of the Year in 2009.
The first vintage wine in 1997 set a new quality standard for South American wines, beating renowned wines from around the world in a series of blind tastings.Taste: The wine has a bright ruby red color, with a variety of blackberries, smokiness, chocolate, and spiciness on the palate, giving a very mature feel.The tannins are firm, the mouthfeel is rich, round, and smooth, with a medium body and medium acidity.
