[Chateau Maucaillou 2019]
The Chateau Maucaillou vineyard is full of stones, hence the French name Mauvais Cailloux, meaning Bad Stone. The estate was thus named Maucaillou. It early on ranked alongside Poujeaux and Chasse Spleen as the three musketeers of the Moulis region. The wine quality is recognized to reach the level of a fourth or fifth growth estate. The estate originated in 1875 and was initially owned by the Petit Laroche wine merchant family, who sought the convenience of being near the railway to transport wine to other parts of Europe.
