[Chateau Maucaillou 2014]
Robert Parker rating: 91/100
James Suckling rating: 93/100
Chateau Maucaillou vineyard is one of the oldest vineyards in Medoc, with traces found in the land registry dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries. The terroir of the 63-hectare vineyard at Chateau Maucaillou is composed of excellent Quaternary alluvial deposits, a large part of which comes from the Guntz Garonne gravel layer found in the great classified growths of Medoc. This gravel contains large, shiny stones that reflect summer sunlight onto the grapes, thereby enhancing their ripeness, which is essential for producing high-quality wine.
The 2014 Chateau Maucaillou is based on fresh and vibrant aromas, with notes of blackberry, tobacco, and graphite, making it lively and captivating. The palate has a medium body, with a crisp and lively entry, perfectly balanced acidity, and delicate tannins. It is not an intense wine, nor is it a full-bodied claret, but it has a long finish and a true delicacy.
Grape varieties: 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot
Under the law of Hong Kong, intoxicating liquor must not be sold or supplied to a minor in the course of business.
