[Chateau Monbousquet 2013]
Robert Parker Rating: 90/100 (2014)
The history of Chateau Monbousquet can be traced back to 1540. In modern times, the estate was purchased in 1993 by Gerard Perse, who owns several famous estates such as Chateau Pavie and Chateau Pavie-Decesse.Out of his love for red wine, Gerard Perse bought up many famous Bordeaux estates in one go, even spending heavily to reform the estates. He even invited winemaking master Michel Rolland to the estate as a winemaking consultant, significantly improving the quality and winemaking techniques of Chateau Monbousquet, allowing it to be classified as one of the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classees in 2006.This 2013 vintage is aged in new oak barrels for 18-24 months, with racking every 3 months.
"Monbousquet 2013 exudes aromas of cedar, Christmas fruitcake, cherries, baking spices, and red and black currants." A lovely, round, fruit-forward wine with a medium body, smooth tannins, elegant style, and a potential for 7-10 years of aging.Robert Parker, August 2014
