[Chateau Margaux 2018]
Robert Parker rating: 100/100
Chateau Margaux is one of the most famous wine estates in Bordeaux, located east of Margaux in the Médoc. It, along with Lafite, Latour, and Haut-Brion, was classified as a first growth in the original 1855 Bordeaux Médoc classification.Generally speaking, Margaux is considered the most elegant among the first-growth estates and has always been one of the most expensive wines in the world. The Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend is complemented by small amounts of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc.
"Chateau Margaux 2018 presents a deep purple-black color, slowly releasing enticing aromas of blackcurrant, wild blueberries, and Black Forest cake, with hints of redcurrant jelly, rose oil, dark chocolate, cedar chestnut, and a touch of anise." The medium to full-bodied palate is filled with rich black fruit, fragrant earth, and floral layers, supported by a rock-solid structure made up of finely matured, finely-grained tannins and a seamless fresh core, with a long finish. This is the most alluring classic Margaux wine, and surprisingly, it is now approachable and absolutely delicious."
Grape variety:
90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot
