[Les Tourelles de Longueville 2016]James Suckling rating: 94/100
Les Tourelles de Longueville 2016 is the second wine of Chateau Pichon Baron, which was classified as a second growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. It is a highly regarded wine estate in the Pauillac appellation of the Haut-Médoc wine region of Bordeaux, located on the so-called "Left Bank" of the Gironde estuary.Mainly from the Sainte Anne plot, this plot is primarily planted with Merlot. The Les Griffons de Pichon brand is a new addition to this product range. It comes from the same vineyard plots as Pichon Baron, has the same aging period, but is blended to achieve a softer structure and earlier drinkability.
"Les Tourelles de Longueville 2016 is deliciously mature, balanced with an enchanting earthy aroma, surrounded by the scents and flavors of ripe plums and red berries." The sheet-like tannins are neatly layered, creating a long, noble finish. Baron Bichot's second-label wine. Try it from 2023.
Grape varieties:
58% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot
