[Chateau La Tour Carnet 2019]
James Suckling rating: 94/100
Robert Parker rating: 92/100
Chateau La Tour Carnet was ranked as a fourth growth in the 1855 Médoc classification. After the estate was acquired by Bernard Magrez in 2000, its quality significantly improved, with Robert Parker calling it the most cost-effective among all classified estates.Using drones (one of the latest technologies acquired by Bernard Magrez) to analyze vineyard plots from the air has deepened the understanding of each plot. For example, the terroir of Labyrinthe is more suitable for Merlot, while the slopes are better for Cabernet.Chateau La Tour Carnet has an expansive 190-hectare vineyard, of which only 2.46 hectares are used to produce La Tour Carnet Blanc, resulting in very limited production.
"The 2019 La Tour Carnet exudes intense aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry, mingling with notes of burning embers, fertile soil, and cigar box. The body is medium to full-bodied, smooth and enveloping, with a broad palate that gradually evolves into a rich fruitiness, supported by ripe, powdery tannins and lively acidity."This is a seamless, quite powerful Médoc wine, and the result is excellent.
Grape varieties: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot
Under the law of Hong Kong, intoxicating liquor must not be sold or supplied to a minor in the course of business.
