[La Chapelle de La Mission Haut Brion 2014]
Robert Parker rating: 88/100
La Mission Haut Brion is located in Pessac Leognan, southwest of Bordeaux, directly opposite Chateau Haut Brion, situated between the Peugue and Serpent streams, on a vast gravelly plateau, giving Mission Haut Brion its exceptionally high-quality soil. The history of the estate dates back to the 16th century, and it began to gain fame after being managed by the Jesuit priests in 1682, which is also the origin of the estate's name today. The priests toiled diligently in the vineyard and devoted a great deal of effort, and within less than a century, it had become one of the top wineries in the region. In 1983, the Delon family, who had already taken over Chateau Haut Brion, purchased La Mission Haut Brion, continuously improving techniques and developing the estate's invaluable terroir.
"La Chapelle de La Mission Haut Brion 2014 has a subtle aroma, very delicate and understated, with beautiful blackberry, lingonberry, and blackcurrant scents gently unfolding in the glass; the body is medium, with a tobacco-flavored black fruit taste on the palate."When tasted from the barrel, it has more presence in the mouth, although its finish lacks a bit of complexity and seems quite simple, it can be enjoyed now and for the next 6-8 years.
