[La Chapelle de La Mission Haut Brion 2005]
Robert Parker rating: 91/100
La Mission Haut Brion is located in Pessac Leognan, southwest of Bordeaux, directly opposite Chateau Haut Brion, situated between the Berges and Serpent streams, on a vast gravel plateau, giving Mission Haut Brion its exceptionally high-quality soil. The history of the estate dates back to the 16th century, and it began to gain fame after being managed by the Jesuit priests in 1682, which is also the origin of the estate's name today. The priests toiled diligently in the vineyard and devoted a great deal of effort, and within less than a century, it had become one of the top wineries in the region. In 1983, the Delon family, who had already taken over Chateau Haut Brion, purchased La Mission Haut Brion, continuously improving techniques and developing the estate's immeasurable terroir.
"La Chapelle de La Mission Haut Brion 2005 presents sweetness, smokiness, black cherry, plum, and earthy flavors, all of which are perfectly embodied in this velvety, juicy wine."
