[Chateau Kirwan 2020]
Robert Parker rating: 92/100
James Suckling rating: 94/100
Château Kirin is located in the Margaux appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux. It was classified as a third growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. Other classified growths in the same appellation include Palmer and Giscours.Château Kirin has approximately 30 hectares of vineyards, with soil primarily composed of sandy gravel. The grape planting ratio is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Petit Verdot, and 10% Cabernet Franc, with an average vine age of 27 years. The wine produced has an inviting aroma, a balanced structure, a smooth texture, silky tannins, and an overall elegant style that is not exaggerated.Although Kirwan's wine quality is not outstanding compared to the rest of the Margaux region, its aging potential is quite good, with great potential over the next 15 years.
"2020 Kirwan exhibits sweet black fruit and licorice aromas, intermingled with creamy new oak notes. The body is medium to full, deep and meaty, with fine tannins. The acidity of this vintage is rich, and although it is reliable, its profile is gentle and seamless."Focused.In terms of aromatic purity and extraction management, this is the best Kirwan in a long time. Robert Parker
