[Jean Gautreau 1997]
Château Sociando-Mallet is a wine estate located in the northern part of the Médoc (the wine is bottled under the Haut-Médoc appellation) and is generally considered to be on par with many classified estates.Although it did not appear in the 1855 Bordeaux classification, the property was ranked fifth in the unofficial 2011 version by the wine trading website Liv-Ex.It is known for producing rich, classically structured wines. The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats. The selected batch for Sociando-Mallet is aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels.
"Jean Gautreau 1997 is a deep purple-red color, with a tendency to change to a gem-like red. The wine is opaque, with some tears, resembling blood plasma."The aroma is balanced and restrained, with the deep berry scents of blueberries and plums, cedar, and the feeling of spring oak standing in the forest. The wine is full-bodied, medium acidity, with strong tannins and a delicate grainy texture. It has the aroma of ripe plums and blueberries, a strong woody scent of oak bark, and becomes soft and sweet after aeration, with faint hints of pepper and eucalyptus leaves.Overall balanced and concentrated, with a medium-long finish and a hint of apple pie aroma.
Grape variety:
55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc
