[Jean Gautreau 2013]
Château Sociando-Mallet is a wine estate located in the northern part of the Médoc (the wine is bottled under the Haut-Médoc appellation) and is generally considered to be on par with many classified estates.Although it did not appear in the 1855 Bordeaux classification, the property was ranked fifth in the unofficial 2011 version by the wine trading website Liv-Ex.It is known for producing rich, classically structured wines. The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats. The selected batch for Sociando-Mallet is aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels.
Jean Gautreau 2013 has noticeably soft tannins, and the wine exhibits a young and intense ruby/purple color. The aromas of white flowers, blackberries, and blackcurrants are found in this still young, medium to full-bodied, rich wine, just approaching full maturity.
Grape variety:
54% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc
