【Chateau Haut-Bergey 2012】
James Suckling Score: 91/100
In the 15th century, Lords of La Louvière and Lord Olivier began consolidating the land, giving rise to the noble estate of Pontac, known today as Château Haut-Bergey. In 1700, Sir John Francis Crese, a councilor of the Bordeaux Parliament, made his home here. By 1772, the estate boasted 100 hectares of vines. A century later, the vineyard was abandoned, and in 1850, the reconstruction of the château was officially sanctioned. It wasn't until the latter half of the 20th century, around 1957, that wine production in the area began to recover. In March 1991, Sylviane Garcin Cathiard acquired Château Haut-Bergey.
This is a rich and fruit-forward wine, offering abundant notes of green apple and pear. Full-bodied, with hints of lemon zest and a subtle mineral backbone. Approachable and delightful to drink.
Grape Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
