[Guigal La Mouline 2011]
Robert Parker rating: 98/100
E. Guigal is one of the most renowned wine producers in the Rhône Valley. It was founded by Etienne Guigal in 1946 in Ampuis on the western bank of the Rhône River, and its headquarters remain in Ampuis to this day, just a stone's throw from the famous sun-soaked slopes of Côte Rôtie. Guigal's flagship wines, the renowned "LaLa"s: La Landonne, La Mouline, and La Turque.
The pitch-black 2013 Côte Rôtie La Landonne is undoubtedly one of the gems of the vintage, with more texture, depth, and richness than almost any other wine on the market. Burnt fruit, black, black fruit, espresso, crushed stone, and wood smoke all emanate from this full-bodied, concentrated Côte Rôtie, showcasing a masculine style while still possessing incredible purity and elegance.
