Many wine enthusiasts are familiar with the first-growth Bordeaux estate Mouton Rothschild, owned by the Rothschild family.Today, this family fully owns the Domaine de Baron‘Aqrues estate located in Limoux, southern France; this estate is the oldest property in the Rothschild family's extensive portfolio, with a history dating back to the 8th century.In the 17th century, it was known as Domaine de Lambert and changed hands several times until it was acquired by the Rothschild family in 1988, officially named Domaine de Baron‘Aqrues.
Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and her two sons bought the estate in 1998, reorganized the vineyards, and renovated the winemaking facilities.
The grape varieties planted in the estate come from Bordeaux and the Rhône Valley.The wine is generally rich, with a deep pomegranate red color. The aroma is concentrated and accompanied by strong scents of blackcurrant, tobacco, and spices. The taste is fresh and clear, combining black fruits with a round and delicate texture.It can be stored for about 15 to 20 years.
