[Dominus Napa Valley 2011]
James Suckling rating: 93/100
The owner of Chateau Petrus, Christian Moueix, studied in California and deeply understood the winemaking potential of the region. After years of research and searching, he finally found the vineyard "Napanook" in Napa Valley to collaborate on winemaking, and they officially began production in 1983, becoming another highly acclaimed top-tier French-American cooperative wine.Dominus uses grapes exclusively from the Napanook estate for its winemaking, so it is only natural that Dominus employs the winemaking techniques of Petrus. Many wine critics have praised it as one of the best Cabernet Sauvignon wines from Napa.
"Dominus Napa Valley 2011 is an elegant Dominus, full-bodied, with a deep purple/red garnet color, and aromas of tobacco leaf, forest floor, brush, red and black currants, plum jam, and Asian soy." The entry and mid-palate are medium to full-bodied, with a slight drop on the palate (a characteristic of the 2011 vintage). It should reach full maturity in another year or two and last for 10-12 years."
Grape varieties:
86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, and 5% Cabernet Franc
