Located in Saint-Emilion, Chateau d’Aiguilhe is owned by the Comte von Neipperg family, who also own the renowned wineries Chateau La Mondotte, Chateau Canon La Gaffeliere, and Clos de l’Oratoire. The vineyard has an excellent natural drainage system and ample southern exposure, with a topsoil of limestone and clay loam covering the poor limestone subsoil. Chateau D'Aiguilhe 2021 combines the aromas of ripe summer fruits with smoky earthiness and chalk.The red fruits here—strawberries, raspberries, and red cherries—are full of lovely energy—very acidic—they have a deliciously crisp, almost tart flavor, then settle down to reveal a chalky mid-palate.The tannins are nice, providing gentle support, balancing the various elements, and driving the flavors from start to finish.It is a pleasure to drink this wine; the terroir is evident and imparts such appealing textural elements.
