[DRC La Tache 2008]
Robert Parker rating: 96/100
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, or better known as DRC, is undoubtedly the most famous and collectible wine producer in Burgundy. The estate is located in the village of Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy and sells wines from eight different grand cru vineyards that span the entire Côte d'Or. The most famous is from the eponymous Romanée-Conti vineyard, which is on average the most expensive wine in the world.
DRC La Tache 2007's mocha coffee, vanilla, black cherry, and almond paste flavors add a hint of sweetness to the candy. Note the intense blackcurrant and raspberry, while Latakia tobacco, peat, clove, black pepper, star anise, and fennel contribute the commune's typical Vosne-Romanee character to the blackcurrant. The high-pitched, sweet theme continues on the palate, hinting at tarragon, rosemary, and lily perfume, while the wine's smoky, spicy elements seem to descend into the subdued background of roasted red meat and forest floor.
Grape variety:
Pinot Noir
