[Chateau D'Avize 2012]
Domaine was founded in 1872 by Lucien Leclerc in Cumières and moved to Épernay in 1955, with its current location at Chemin de la Chaude Ruelle. It was during this same period, under the impetus of the founder's great-grandson Bertrand Leclerc and his wife Jacqueline Briant, that the winery was renamed Maison de Négoce and became known as Leclerc Briant.
Chateau D'Avize 2012 is crisp and clean, with a scent of green apple, but it has weight behind it. Once opened, it reveals a wealth of quince, hazelnut, biscuit, and pastry notes, with no cream and egg notes yet, although these will develop over the next few years.
Grape variety: Chardonnay
