[Cloudy Bay Chardonnay 2023]
James Suckling rating: 92/100
Cloudy Bay is a bay located on the eastern side of the Loire River valley, named by British explorer James Cook when he discovered it in 1770, and it is one of the first five wineries established in the Marlborough region. The founder, David Hohnen, was originally a wine estate owner in Australia. Later, he discovered that New Zealand had better soil and climate conditions for growing grapes, so he established Cloudy Bay here, and it has been nearly 30 years since.
Bright and clear with dried-apple, mineral and stone aromas with some honeysuckle undertones. Medium-bodied, this has tangy and crisp acidity, nougat and cooked-apple flavors. Limes in the finish. The vividness is impressive.- James Suckling
