[Chateau Cos Labory 2014]
Robert Parker rating: 89/100
Chateau Cos Labory is located in the Saint-Estephe region of Bordeaux and is rated as a Fifth Growth in the Bordeaux 1855 Classification. The winery is adjacent to the famous Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Chateau Cos d'Estournel, with a superior geographical location. The name of Chateau Cos Labory has two origins: one is because it is located on the Cos hill, and the other is derived from the name of the estate's first owner, Francois Labory. The owner's surname combined with the estate's location name became the name used by the estate to this day, "Cos Labory."The winery is classified as a fifth growth in the Bordeaux 1855 classification.
"Chateau Cos Labory 2014 is always underestimated at en primeur, but when tasted from barrel, this vintage shows promise." It has a bouquet of clean graphite and scorched earth, but lacks the complexity and tension of its peers; the palate is medium-bodied, with soft tannins and just the right amount of acidity, actually showing more potential than the nose suggests, with a commendable purity on the finish."If the aroma could evolve to have more personality, this would be a respectable Chateau Cos Labory."
Grape variety:
60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc
