Château Croizet Bages is an often-overlooked 5th Growth in Pauillac that offers excellent value. The 2012 vintage, which favored Merlot, produced a wonderfully charming and approachable expression of the appellation. Now fully mature, it reveals an engaging bouquet of ripe cassis, dark plum, sweet cigar box, cedar, and classic Pauillac graphite notes. Medium-bodied and exceptionally smooth on the palate, the tannins have resolved into a velvety texture, supporting a core of sweet, accessible dark fruit. Drinking beautifully right now.
