[Chateau Cos d'Estournel 2016]
Robert Parker rating: 100/100
The super second growth estate Cos d'Estournel is located between Pauillac and Saint-Estephe, neighboring Chateau Lafite. The nature-respecting Chateau Cos d'Estournel meticulously selects the harvested grapes, then transports them using natural gravity methods, and strictly monitors the fermentation temperature. All the wines at the estate are aged in new barrels to emphasize the rich flavors and the expressive aromas of the wood.
Chateau Cos d'Estournel 2016 presents a deep garnet red color, initially a bit closed and silent, slowly and enticingly opening up to reveal core notes of blackcurrant, cherry, wild blueberry, and mocha coffee, with a hint of wood smoke. The taste is full of energy and depth, seemingly ignoring the elegance and ethereal nature of the medium body, with super ripe, dense, fine tannins that firmly outline countless sparks of fruit and floral aromas, concluding with an epic length.
Grape variety:
76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc
