The 1982 Château Canon is a mythical, historical artifact from what is arguably the greatest Bordeaux vintage of the 20th century. Now fully mature, it offers a profoundly moving, purely tertiary tasting experience. The bouquet is a breathtaking kaleidoscope of black truffles, worn leather, humidor/cigar box, dried figs, and damp forest floor. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, remarkably ethereal, and completely seamless, with tannins that have melted entirely into the wine. A rare, aristocratic, and deeply intellectual old Saint-Émilion meant for contemplation.
