The 2017 Château de Beaucastel Rouge is a powerful, explosive wine born from a hot and extremely dry vintage that severely reduced yields. This resulted in a Châteauneuf-du-Pape of immense concentration and depth. It pours a dark ruby/purple and explodes with extravagant aromas of ripe black cherries, fig paste, licorice, roasted herbs (garrigue), and cured meats. Full-bodied and incredibly dense, the palate is structured around a massive wall of ripe, chewy tannins. Built for the long haul, this is a blockbuster vintage.
