[Chateau Angelus 1996]
Robert Parker rating: 91/100
Château Angélus is a renowned wine estate located in the Saint-Émilion region in the northeast of Bordeaux. The property is situated in a coveted location to the west of the town of Saint-Émilion, on a gentle south-facing slope of the Saint-Émilion plateau. It produces a luxurious, long-lived Merlot-Cabernet Franc wine that is often highly rated by critics. The grand wine is aged in new oak barrels for about 18 months before bottling. Then, it will be stored in the bottle for at least five years before being released, but due to the concentration, weight, and structure of Angélus, which usually allow the wine to evolve over decades, it can be aged for a longer period.
The Chateau Angelus 1996 is a rich and powerful Angelus, displaying a saturated black/red/ruby color and impressive aromas of dried herbs, roasted meat, new saddle leather, plum liqueur, and blackcurrant. In the mouth, the olive flavor leaves a deep impression. This sweet, rich, and exceptionally concentrated wine has atypical backwardness and fierce tannins.
Grape variety:
51% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Franc y 2% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Under the law of Hong Kong, intoxicating liquor must not be sold or supplied to a minor in the course of business.
